1. beside, besides

想必在生命中的某个时刻，各位都见过这两个词的辨析吧beside=be+side 在...旁边；besides 除…之外（还），如：

I go and stand beside him.
我走过去站在他旁边。

There is a table beside you.
你旁边有一个桌子。

Besides the two novels, I have bought two maps.
除了两本小说外，我还买了两张地图。

Besides English, he has to study German and French.
除英语外，他还要学德语和法语。


2. people, peoples

长期以来，我们对people的理解是集体名词，表复数的含义；

Millions of people have lost their homes.
数百万人流离失所。

It's a triumph for the Chinese people.
这是中国人民的胜利。


那peoples又如何理解呢❓答案：当people作为“民族，各国人民”讲时，就可+s：

the native peoples of Central and South America
中南美洲的土著民族

The friendship between the peoples of our two countries is unbreakable.
我们两国人民的友谊是坚不可摧的。


3. mean, means

这两个词的含义简直是千差万别：mean-打算, 意思是, 意味着 (动词)；mean-吝啬的 (形容词)

Do you mean to go without money?
你打算身无分文就走吗？

What does the phrase mean?
这个短语是什么意思?

The man is very mean about money.
这个男士在金钱上很吝啬。


means 名词，表“方法，手段”，单复数同形。

The move is a means to fight crime.
这项举措是打击犯罪的一种方法。

All possible means and ways have been tried.
所有可能的方法都试过了。

（注意区分mean的三单线形式means和名词means的区别哦～）

4. good, goods

good是我们从小学到大的词汇，表示“好的；优秀的；有益的；漂亮的；健全的“等：

We had a good time together.
我们在一起玩得很开心。

Vegetable is good for our health.
蔬菜对我们的健康有好处。


而goods，就表示“商品，货物”的意思：

Our goods are sold only at this store.
我们的货物只在这一家商店经销。

All our goods are clearly priced.
我们所有货物都标明了价目。
