咖啡杯里的另类艺术
Victoria Siemer’s coffee cup manipulations are mugs full of wonders.
维多利亚·西莫处理过的咖啡杯都是充满奇观的杯子。
Siemer’s creativity started the idea of experimenting with microcosms in Photoshop. It wasn’t long before she wondered what it would be like to hold the universe in mugs.
西莫的创意始于尝试运用图像处理软件对微观世界进行处理的想法。不久后，她很好奇把宇宙放入杯子里会是什么样子的。
Siemer started with photos of coffee cups she found online, but grew frustrated because many stock photos “suck”. “I realized if I was ever going to make the images that I wanted I’d have to shoot them myself,” she says.
西莫起初使用自己在网上找到的咖啡杯图片，但是非常沮丧，因为许多库存图片很糟糕。她说：“我意识到，如果想要做出我想要的照片，我就得亲自拍照。”
Siemer photoshopped images of ocean waves and starry skies in coffee cups. She’s manipulated images to make surfers defy gravity as well.

In the Balinese village of Bengkala every one of the 3,000-odd residents can fluently communicate in kata kolok, a centuries-old sign language, and people with speech and hearing deficiencies are treated with respect.
巴厘岛有一个叫本卡拉的村庄，住着3000多位居民，他们每一个人都可以流利地通过一种叫作kata kolok的古老手语进行交流，那些有语言和听力障碍的人得以受到尊重。
The number of hearing and speech impaired in Bengkala is 15 times higher than the world average. So sign language took precedence over words in this village. The high incidence of deafness is caused by the recessive gene DFNB3, present in the village for seven generations.
本卡拉村平均患有听力和语言障碍的人数高出世界水平15倍。因此，相比语言，手语在这个村子所占的地位更高。该村落的聋哑现象之所以频发是一种名为DFNB3的隐性基因导致的，村子里7代人身上都发现了该基因。
People in Bengkala perceive deafness as a gift from Dewa Kolok, the god of the deaf and the meaning of Bengkala is a place for someone to hide.
该村的村民认为，聋哑是他们信奉的聋哑之神Dewa Kolok赐予的礼物。本卡拉的意思是人们可以躲避的地方。
The younger generation in Bengkala has started to embrace new forms of communication—smart phones, social media, and international sign language. “Dance of the Deaf”—a style of dance developed specifically for the deaf and mute—has attracted visitors from around the world. The villagers want to develop tourism to increase the income of the deaf population.
村里年轻的一代已经开始使用新的通讯方式——智能手机、社交媒体以及国际通用手语。专为聋哑人发明的“聋哑之舞”吸引着世界各地的游客。村落的居民希望能发展旅游业，提高聋哑人的收入。
